Events not listed, but tentatively planned:

Friday lunchtime music. ASB Leadership plans to host Friday lunchtime activities that will consist at the bare minimum of playing music in the courtyard. This could be expanded to host any student club, community organization or to focus a specific theme.

Cesar Chavez Week of Service. Leadership Fundraising & Service Promotion during the last week of March. This week would include lunchtime service opportunities hosted around school by either ASB Leadership or student clubs. It would culminate in a beautification project of a school clean up at 7:30 am that continues during first period and lunchtime with food provided. Leadership students would request donations for amount of service time for the month with a focus on the last week.

Intramurals at lunchtime hosted by ASB Leadership on Wednesday. We are planning to host regular intramural basketball (maybe other activities) at lunch. If staff are interested in supporting this activity, contact Mr. V, Ryan Fox, or David An.

Assemblies/School Day events. ASB Leadership is assisting with a large school assembly in each of the first three months and maybe one more in the spring. It is our belief that these events will build a student’s sense of belonging and connection to BHS. We recognize the potential for lost instructional time, but are hoping that advanced notice and split-period bell schedules will alleviate this concern. Our time together as a large school is precious and significant, so we will treat it as such, knowing that staff may be making compromises with their plans.

In addition to the large school assemblies, we will host events that take students away from instructional time. For almost all events, ASB Leadership will provide a field trip permission slip that must be signed before students have period absences cleared with the attendance office. If you believe that a student has abused their privilege to participate in these events, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. V.

Status of the following activities to be determined at a later date.

ASB Speaker Series. ASB Leadership would like to continue the speaker series into the upcoming school year with student clubs getting a chance to create their presentation and choose their own speakers. If this is not possible again, we will attempt to host a spring “symposium” of speakers around a topic of significance and high relevance. If you are a sponsor of student club and would like to host a speaker series, please contact Mr. V.

Student Summit Leadership opportunity for all learning communities to examine the strengths and areas of need of BHS. This could be for all leadership applicants and SLC leaders. Possible dates: April 17-19, 23-26.

Theme weeks, fundraiser campaigns, etc. will be established as needed or desired throughout the school year.
