💛 Mental Health Awareness Event — April 10 in the CCC during lunch!
UC Berkeley students from the Mental Health Committee of AMWA (American Medical Women’s Association) will be tabling in the CCC during lunch on April 10 to promote mental health awareness and share helpful wellness resources.
Stop by to take part in interactive activities, including:

The Gilman District Street Fair is Looking for Volunteers
will take place on Sunday, April 26, 2026 from 10am – 5pm, come rain or shine
The Gilman District Street Fair organizing committee is seeking volunteers to assist with our 4th annual event. The last three Street Fair events were a tremendous success, and this year’s event promises to be even bigger and better. And we could use your help!
The event location is in the heart of Berkeley’s wine block. We will be closing off one block of Fourth and Fifth Streets between Gilman and Camelia Streets, and three blocks of Camelia Street, between Trumer Pilsner and Sixth Street. We plan to have plenty of booths spanning local businesses and organizations, artists, and food trucks.
We are looking for volunteers to assist the organizing committee the day of the event, starting at 7:30am and ending around 6:30pm. We are hoping for a 2-2.5 hour commitment from each volunteer. Volunteers will get a free T-shirt and a coupon for a special treat from one of the Gilman District’s establishments. The range of responsibilities will include:
● Checking in vendors and directing them to their assigned location
● Helping to set up booths and stages
● Assisting with vendor and food truck needs
● Directing traffic away from closed off streets
● Assisting with the flow of performances
● Communicating with organizers to ensure smooth running of the day
● Assisting with breakdown of the event

Explore the fascinating world of engineering in this EXT period course.
Makerspace Engineering Class
Students will gain hands-on experience and delve into how to design and build the electromechanical systems that shape our daily lives. Design, build, wire, and program mechanisms in a project-based learning class. Study electric circuits, electromagnetism, digital electronics, and learn to use industry-standard electrical lab equipment. Develop Computer-Aided Design (CAD) skills and learn to build those parts with 3D printers and laser cutters. Learn to program microcontrollers in C and Python. Classes meet in a purpose-built makerspace at the Berkeley Adult School.

Congressional Art Competition for California’s 12th Congressional District
Hello BHS Students, the Office of Congresswoman Lateefah Simon (CA-12) is excited to announce that the Congressional Art Competition for California’s 12th Congressional District is now live! Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. This year’s theme is “The Collective Us in California’s 12th Congressional District.”

Reel Stories is a film and media program for women and gender expansive youth, created due to the gender imbalance in the film world. They are hosting a summer camp this upcoming summer for girls ages 13-17 in-person in Oakland. The dates for the summer camp are June 15th – June 26th. During the camp, you will learn how to make a short film from start to finish, with all the professional editing and filming equipment. This includes boom and lavalier mics, cameras, tripods, and the editing software premiere pro. You can follow the @campreelstories instagram for updates and see all their links in one place. Notification of Non-Discrimination Policy
The Berkeley Unified School District is committed to providing a hostile-free working and learning environment. Discrimination is different treatment based on a protected characteristic in the context of an educational program, work or activity without a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason that interferes with or limits the individual’s ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or privileges provided by the District or includes an adverse employment action.
Hostile environment harassment occurs when a target is subjected to unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic, which is both subjectively offensive to the target and would be offensive to a reasonable person of similar circumstances/characteristics and is sufficiently so severe, and so pervasive to interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to effectively work or to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or opportunities offered by the District. Harassment may take many forms, including but not limited to, verbal remarks and name-calling, graphic and written statements, or any conduct that may be threatening or humiliating. Harassment based on any of the above protected categories is a form of unlawful discrimination and will not be tolerated by the District and can result in disciplinary action against the offending student or employee.
Upon witnessing an act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, based on actual or perceived protected characteristics, school personnel are required to take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so. Once a school/office has expressed notice or reason to know of such conduct, whether carried out by employees, students, or third parties, it should take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate, determine what occurred, take prompt and effective steps reasonably calculated to end the conduct, eliminate a hostile environment, if one has been created and prevent the conduct from occurring again. These steps should be taken regardless of whether an individual makes a complaint or asks the school/office to take action. Complaints are protected from retaliation. The District prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or an appeal, reports instances of noncompliance, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation, or who participates in the complaint-filing or investigation process. This nondiscriminatory policy applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within any school/office under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Unified School District.
