Yearbook distribution 

Yearbook distribution starts today! If you pre-ordered a book, stop by the glass lobby after school to pick it up. You must show student ID to pick the book up. If you haven’t pre-ordered a book, you can buy one in-person for $110 in cash only. In-person sales are only for seniors on the 20th, but open to all grades starting the 21st. Distribution runs from the 20th to the 21st, and an additional day on the 26th.

The BHS Health Center will be open this summer from June 15–July 10,2026 📆 

Summer hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30–11:45 AM and 12:20–4:00 PM (closed daily from 11:45 AM–12:20 PM). 

We’ll continue offering all Health Center services throughout the summer, including mental health support, sexual and reproductive health services, and first aid care.

“We are Ken and June, your directors of our monologues for the 2026-2027 season! Our monologues is a student-run production of poems, skits, and songs. 

This production is made by and for students, so we are looking for any submissions of writing you would like to share out to the school and Berkeley community. 

Submissions can focus on anything from school, relationships, mental health, or even just social commentary. As well as music originals or covers. 

Submissions can be anonymous or personal and submitting a monologue will not require you to join the show.

Final signatures for Spring Community Program PE Exemptions are due by May 8th, 2026

Fall 2026 forms will be available on the 

BHS Website in August 2026

  Remember, your outside activity must:

Be either a structured athletic program or a competitive (state-sponsored) team sport

Include at least five hours of structured activities per week — a minimum total of 60 hours for the semester

A new form and supporting documents must be submitted every semester you seek to earn a Community Program PE Exemption

The Berkeley Unified School District is committed to providing a hostile-free working and learning environment. Hostile environment harassment occurs when a target is subjected to unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic, which is both subjectively offensive to the target and would be offensive to a reasonable person of similar circumstances/characteristics and is sufficiently so severe, and so pervasive to interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to effectively work or to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or opportunities offered by the District. Harassment may take many forms, including but not limited to, verbal remarks and name-calling, graphic and written statements, or any conduct that may be threatening or humiliating. Harassment based on any of the above protected categories is a form of unlawful discrimination and will not be tolerated by the District and can result in disciplinary action against the offending student or employee.

Upon witnessing an act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, based on actual or perceived protected characteristics, school personnel are required to take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so. Once a school/office has expressed notice or reason to know of such conduct, whether carried out by employees, students, or third parties, it should take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate, determine what occurred, take prompt and effective steps reasonably calculated to end the conduct, eliminate a hostile environment, if one has been created and prevent the conduct from occurring again. These steps should be taken regardless of whether an individual makes a complaint or asks the school/office to take action. Complaints are protected from retaliation. The District prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or an appeal, reports instances of noncompliance, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation, or who participates in the complaint-filing or investigation process. This nondiscriminatory policy applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within any school/office under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Unified School District.

Come to the BHS Library and read to a therapy dog to take a break and de-stress! 

On Thursday, May 28, Rex, Pinta, and Matza will be visiting the BHS Library computer lab at lunch. If you’d like to meet them, you may sign up for a ten minute time slot with a friend. There will also be 6 time slots available for people to show up on the day of the visit. Come to the library if you have questions!

League of Creative Minds

This summer will mark the 19th consecutive year in which the League of Creative Minds, Youth Academy of Debate and Diplomacy has hosted academic summer courses focused on high-level diplomacy, foreign policy, philosophy, logic, and geopolitics. All LCM camps are local and will take place at the Nueva High School (San Mateo), at VC Nest  (Palo Alto,)  at Cal Berkeley (Berkeley), and at UCSF.

Financial Aid is available, please inquire!  In 19 years, LCM has never turned down a single delegate due to fiscal challenges!  Additionally, this year we are awarding merit-based scholarships for any student in the East Bay who would like to attend the weeks we are at Berkeley.

Yearbook distribution 

Yearbook distribution starts today! If you pre-ordered a book, stop by the glass lobby after school to pick it up. You must show student ID to pick the book up. If you haven’t pre-ordered a book, you can buy one in-person for $110 in cash only. In-person sales are only for seniors on the 20th, but open to all grades starting the 21st. Distribution runs from the 20th to the 21st, and an additional day on the 26th.

League of Creative Minds

This summer will mark the 19th consecutive year in which the League of Creative Minds, Youth Academy of Debate and Diplomacy has hosted academic summer courses focused on high-level diplomacy, foreign policy, philosophy, logic, and geopolitics. All LCM camps are local and will take place at the Nueva High School (San Mateo), at VC Nest  (Palo Alto,)  at Cal Berkeley (Berkeley), and at UCSF.

Final signatures for Spring Community Program PE Exemptions are due by May 8th, 2026

Fall 2026 forms will be available on the 

BHS Website in August 2026

  Remember, your outside activity must:

Be either a structured athletic program or a competitive (state-sponsored) team sport

Include at least five hours of structured activities per week — a minimum total of 60 hours for the semester

A new form and supporting documents must be submitted every semester you seek to earn a Community Program PE Exemption

The Berkeley Unified School District is committed to providing a hostile-free working and learning environment. Hostile environment harassment occurs when a target is subjected to unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic, which is both subjectively offensive to the target and would be offensive to a reasonable person of similar circumstances/characteristics and is sufficiently so severe, and so pervasive to interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to effectively work or to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or opportunities offered by the District. Harassment may take many forms, including but not limited to, verbal remarks and name-calling, graphic and written statements, or any conduct that may be threatening or humiliating. Harassment based on any of the above protected categories is a form of unlawful discrimination and will not be tolerated by the District and can result in disciplinary action against the offending student or employee.

Upon witnessing an act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, based on actual or perceived protected characteristics, school personnel are required to take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so. Once a school/office has expressed notice or reason to know of such conduct, whether carried out by employees, students, or third parties, it should take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate, determine what occurred, take prompt and effective steps reasonably calculated to end the conduct, eliminate a hostile environment, if one has been created and prevent the conduct from occurring again. These steps should be taken regardless of whether an individual makes a complaint or asks the school/office to take action. Complaints are protected from retaliation. The District prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or an appeal, reports instances of noncompliance, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation, or who participates in the complaint-filing or investigation process. This nondiscriminatory policy applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within any school/office under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Unified School District.

Yearbook distribution starts May 20th and runs through the 22nd, with an additional day on the 26th. 

You can pick up your pre-ordered book at the glass lobby after school those days. May 20th is in-person sales ONLY for seniors, in-person sales for all other classes start the 21st. Books bought in-person are $110, ONLY in cash. Any other form of payment will not be accepted. You MUST bring your school ID to pick up your yearbook, you will not receive your book without identification.

This production is made by and for students, so we are looking for any submissions of writing you would like to share out to the school and Berkeley community. 

Submissions can focus on anything from school, relationships, mental health, or even just social commentary. As well as music originals or covers. 

Submissions can be anonymous or personal and submitting a monologue will not require you to join the show.

Bring any BHS books to the A Building Lobby from 12:40 – 1:30 on Mon 6/1, Tues 6/2, & Wed 6/3. You can return all BHS books then. On Thurs 6/4 the Textbook Room will be open from 8 – 2:30.

Final signatures for Spring Community Program PE Exemptions are due by May 8th, 2026

Fall 2026 forms will be available on the 

BHS Website in August 2026

  Remember, your outside activity must:

Be either a structured athletic program or a competitive (state-sponsored) team sport

Include at least five hours of structured activities per week — a minimum total of 60 hours for the semester

A new form and supporting documents must be submitted every semester you seek to earn a Community Program PE Exemption

The Berkeley Unified School District is committed to providing a hostile-free working and learning environment. Hostile environment harassment occurs when a target is subjected to unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic, which is both subjectively offensive to the target and would be offensive to a reasonable person of similar circumstances/characteristics and is sufficiently so severe, and so pervasive to interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to effectively work or to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or opportunities offered by the District. Harassment may take many forms, including but not limited to, verbal remarks and name-calling, graphic and written statements, or any conduct that may be threatening or humiliating. Harassment based on any of the above protected categories is a form of unlawful discrimination and will not be tolerated by the District and can result in disciplinary action against the offending student or employee.

Upon witnessing an act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, based on actual or perceived protected characteristics, school personnel are required to take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so. Once a school/office has expressed notice or reason to know of such conduct, whether carried out by employees, students, or third parties, it should take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate, determine what occurred, take prompt and effective steps reasonably calculated to end the conduct, eliminate a hostile environment, if one has been created and prevent the conduct from occurring again. These steps should be taken regardless of whether an individual makes a complaint or asks the school/office to take action. Complaints are protected from retaliation. The District prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or an appeal, reports instances of noncompliance, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation, or who participates in the complaint-filing or investigation process. This nondiscriminatory policy applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within any school/office under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Unified School District.

We are Ken and June, your directors of our monologues for the 2026-2027 season! Our monologues is a student-run production of poems, skits, and songs. 

This production is made by and for students, so we are looking for any submissions of writing you would like to share out to the school and Berkeley community. 

Submissions can focus on anything from school, relationships, mental health, or even just social commentary. As well as music originals or covers. 

Submissions can be anonymous or personal and submitting a monologue will not require you to join the show.

 Bring all of your textbooks or class novels to the Textbook Room. It will be open 8 – 4. The library will not accept textbooks or class books, only library books.

During Finals Week:

Bring any BHS books to the A Building Lobby from 12:40 – 1:30 on Mon 6/1, Tues 6/2, & Wed 6/3. You can return all BHS books then. On Thurs 6/4 the Textbook Room will be open from 8 – 2:30.

*SENIORS: This includes chromebooks, chargers, and graphing calculators!

The Berkeley Unified School District is committed to providing a hostile-free working and learning environment. Discrimination is different treatment based on a protected characteristic in the context of an educational program, work or activity without a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason that interferes with or limits the individual’s ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or privileges provided by the District or includes an adverse employment action.

Hostile environment harassment occurs when a target is subjected to unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic, which is both subjectively offensive to the target and would be offensive to a reasonable person of similar circumstances/characteristics and is sufficiently so severe, and so pervasive to interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to effectively work or to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or opportunities offered by the District. Harassment may take many forms, including but not limited to, verbal remarks and name-calling, graphic and written statements, or any conduct that may be threatening or humiliating. Harassment based on any of the above protected categories is a form of unlawful discrimination and will not be tolerated by the District and can result in disciplinary action against the offending student or employee.

Upon witnessing an act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, based on actual or perceived protected characteristics, school personnel are required to take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so. Once a school/office has expressed notice or reason to know of such conduct, whether carried out by employees, students, or third parties, it should take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate, determine what occurred, take prompt and effective steps reasonably calculated to end the conduct, eliminate a hostile environment, if one has been created and prevent the conduct from occurring again. These steps should be taken regardless of whether an individual makes a complaint or asks the school/office to take action. Complaints are protected from retaliation. The District prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or an appeal, reports instances of noncompliance, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation, or who participates in the complaint-filing or investigation process. This nondiscriminatory policy applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within any school/office under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Unified School District.

Queer Belonging Backpacking Adventure – Program Description 

Queer Belonging Backpacking Adventure is a paid outdoor program from June 11th to June 27th, 2026. This program is for high school aged youth designed to connect BOTH [Black, Indigenous, People of Color] AND [Queer, Trans, and Gender Non-Binary folx] and allies to nature. During the program, we will explore the themes of Queer belonging through community building, discussions, art, and outdoor adventures including backpacking, camping, and learning in nature– no prior backpacking or outdoor experience is required. Participants will develop a deep sense of belonging within the affinity group and a connection to natural spaces. This program helps create a safe space in which youth can connect on what it means to be QTBIPOC and learn how to advocate for more welcoming and inclusive spaces for all.  

Schedule & Time Commitments: June 11th – June 27th, 2026 

Compensation 

Participants will receive a $575 educational award upon completion of the program. 

~$250 in art supplies and backpacking gear are provided.

Queer Belonging Backpacking Adventure – Program Description 

Queer Belonging Backpacking Adventure is a paid outdoor program from June 11th to June 27th, 2026. This program is for high school aged youth designed to connect BOTH [Black, Indigenous, People of Color] AND [Queer, Trans, and Gender Non-Binary folx] and allies to nature. During the program, we will explore the themes of Queer belonging through community building, discussions, art, and outdoor adventures including backpacking, camping, and learning in nature– no prior backpacking or outdoor experience is required. Participants will develop a deep sense of belonging within the affinity group and a connection to natural spaces. This program helps create a safe space in which youth can connect on what it means to be QTBIPOC and learn how to advocate for more welcoming and inclusive spaces for all.  

Schedule & Time Commitments: June 11th – June 27th, 2026 

Compensation 

Participants will receive a $575 educational award upon completion of the program. 

~$250 in art supplies and backpacking gear are provided.

The Berkeley Unified School District is committed to providing a hostile-free working and learning environment. Discrimination is different treatment based on a protected characteristic in the context of an educational program, work or activity without a legitimate, nondiscriminatory reason that interferes with or limits the individual’s ability to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or privileges provided by the District or includes an adverse employment action.

Hostile environment harassment occurs when a target is subjected to unwelcome conduct based on a protected characteristic, which is both subjectively offensive to the target and would be offensive to a reasonable person of similar circumstances/characteristics and is sufficiently so severe, and so pervasive to interfere with or limit an individual’s ability to effectively work or to participate in or benefit from the services, activities, or opportunities offered by the District. Harassment may take many forms, including but not limited to, verbal remarks and name-calling, graphic and written statements, or any conduct that may be threatening or humiliating. Harassment based on any of the above protected categories is a form of unlawful discrimination and will not be tolerated by the District and can result in disciplinary action against the offending student or employee.

Upon witnessing an act of discrimination, harassment, bullying, intimidation, and retaliation, based on actual or perceived protected characteristics, school personnel are required to take immediate steps to intervene when it is safe to do so. Once a school/office has expressed notice or reason to know of such conduct, whether carried out by employees, students, or third parties, it should take immediate and appropriate steps to investigate, determine what occurred, take prompt and effective steps reasonably calculated to end the conduct, eliminate a hostile environment, if one has been created and prevent the conduct from occurring again. These steps should be taken regardless of whether an individual makes a complaint or asks the school/office to take action. Complaints are protected from retaliation. The District prohibits retaliation against any person who files a complaint or an appeal, reports instances of noncompliance, discrimination, harassment, bullying, and intimidation, or who participates in the complaint-filing or investigation process. This nondiscriminatory policy applies to all acts related to school activity or school attendance within any school/office under the jurisdiction of the Berkeley Unified School District.

Berkeley High Lacrosse Game

Berkeley High School Boys Lacrosse takes on the Foothill Falcons at 5 PM on May 5th, 2026. The match will be held in Jacket Stadium and will serve as the first round playoff for the North Coast Section after both Berkeley boys and girls lacrosse beat Bishop O’Dowd on Friday in two respective electric wins.

Spring 2026 • Community Program PE Exemption

Final signatures for Spring Community Program PE Exemptions are due by May 8th, 2026

Fall 2026 forms will be available on the 

BHS Website in August 2026

  Remember, your outside activity must:

Be either a structured athletic program or a competitive (state-sponsored) team sport

Include at least five hours of structured activities per week — a minimum total of 60 hours for the semester

A new form and supporting documents must be submitted every semester you seek to earn a Community Program PE Exemption
