Sandy Nicholson

My name is Sandy Nicholson and I could not be more thrilled to be an AC history teacher at BHS. I have taught high school and junior high government and history in the Bay Area for the past 11 years, worked as a teacher leader and an instructional and literacy coach. Prior to my tenure at Berkeley High School, I spent seven years at a school south of San Francisco. I love teaching because it is the only job where I can spend an entire day learning from and being inspired by young people. My teaching approach centers on helping foster each student’s passion through analysis and discussion. I want every student to find their own learning stride in order to be informed and active citizens. On a more personal note, I have two French Bulldogs named Jimmy and Chomsky. The three of us spend most of our time exploring the East Bay hills. Sometimes, I leave them at home and travel to as many destinations as possible. So far, I’ve travelled to over 30 countries around the world. For the past 20 years, I have called the SF Bay Area my home but am still a loyal Dodger fan. Sorry SF!
